Adventure Journey, The Extreme Vacationer’s Handbook – Adventure Gets Another Consumer Magazine? Time will tell…

{ATN™ Editor Note: Pulled the following “news release” off the wire Jan. 17, 2006, just before going “live” with the Winter installment of AdventureTravelNews™ – a cursory review (of the online version of the magazine) reveals possibility for the magazine, though it appears it may have a vested interest in its own tour companies. It’s more travel-log oriented as a whole, and emulates other category magazines hitting travel and adventure. There were no Google findings on its publisher/editor, W. K. Jackson – but, we’ll stay alert for progress and look forward to seeing the print version. The content below is drawn verbatim from their launch release.}

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new and original adventure travel magazine: Adventure Journey, The Extreme Vacationer’s Handbook.

Adventure Journey is an online travel magazine like none you've read before. Leave luxury Caribbean cruises and five-star Parisian hotels to the rest--you won't find those cookie-cutter trips here. Instead, you'll discover incredible adventure woven into well-written articles and set in the world's most remarkable places...followed by detailed instructions on how you can experience the journey for yourself!

If you've ever considered an around-the-world trip sans air travel, chimpanzee tracking in the jungles of Uganda, live volcano climbing in Peru, extreme biking in Utah's Canyonlands, or scuba diving Himalayas-style at 14,000 feet, then you've found the guide that can make it happen. If you are interested in the world, its myriad cultures, its thrilling history, its dynamic natural forces, its unbelievable diversity, you will find a source of intense interest in our magazine. Indeed, this Extreme Vacationer's Handbook is the key to that elusive adventure you've been waiting for--and not just once in a lifetime, but again and again.

Adventure Journey is also the only non-trade magazine devoted specifically to covering the activities, tours, and special offers of adventure travel companies worldwide —including an annual “Top 100 Adventure Travel Companies” special issue. But it doesn’t end there — Adventure Journey offers its own adventure tours to locations as diverse as India, Ethiopia, China, Borneo, and South Africa.

Questions should be directed to W. K. Jackson, Editor, by phone at (801) 762-7453 or by email at . Feel free to peruse the magazine online at http://www.AdventureJourney.net.

Additional ATN™ observation: Tour operators may want to visit http://www.adventurejourney.net/for-travel-cos.html to learn more about its “free” online advertising opportunity. I’m always a bit cautious when it comes to free claims, but at first-blush, it might be worth giving it a whirl. Let me know what YOU think: . Some links to additional information are broken on their site, but that often occurs during launch phases.
