New TV series tracks Canadian children travelling around the world
TORONTO (CP) - July 27, 2007 -
A new adventure travel series for kids, titled "Are We There Yet?: World Adventure," will premiere Sept. 3 on Treehouse TV.
The Canadian-made live-action series features seven-minute episodes that track two brother-sister duos, aged six to eight, as they travel to almost 35 cities.
Countries visited include Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru, England, France, Germany, Ukraine, India, Kenya, Thailand and the United States.
"We wanted to build a series that celebrates every part of the world through a child's perspective," says J.J. Johnson, the show's creator. "Our hope is to spark an interest, from a very young age, in different cultures and places around the globe."
The four young travellers experience each culture by interacting with local children and eating local food, exploring manmade or natural wonders, playing local games and attending festivals.
The show is produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment in association with National Geographic Kids and with the support of UNICEF.

The Wall Street Journal Article & Response
ATTA’s work with influential media continues. In case you missed it, the 18 July, 2007 edition of
The Wall Street Journal – in which the ATTA contributed – carried the following article:
Adventure Tours Lighten Up Low-Impact Itineraries
Offer Guests an Escapee
Without Big Workout
By HANNAH KARPP
July 18, 2007; Page D4
It’s also available online here.
While the article suggests a softening of adventure travel, the ATTA maintains that it is more of a broadening of the industry. Read the ATTA’s response to the industry, plus, a similar contrarian viewpoint presented by ATTA Member Backroad’s Founder and President to the WSJ reporter.
