Country Walkers Steps Ahead New Programs Lead the Way
According to Country Walkers’ Carolyn Fox, creating niche product solutions such as the company’s new Women’s Adventures is a direct result of guest suggestions. There has been great interest in this new Country Walkers segment which is close to being sold out for this year. Nothing compares to the camaraderie of exploring new places and cultures with like-minded travelers. Country Walkers Women’s Adventures offer women of all ages ‘time out’ for themselves — and the opportunity to experience the world by walking on tours designed exclusively for women. Whether traveling solo, with friends, or with family members, these special departures celebrate the companionship and spirit of women travelers. 2006 destinations include: Santa Fe & Taos (New Mexico); Classic Rockies (Canadian Rockies); Tuscany & Umbria (Italy); Cinque Terre (Italy); Fès to Marrakesh (Morocco); and Kingdom in the Himalayas (Bhutan).
Another increasingly important concept at Country Walkers is the idea of “giving back” to the communities in which they travel. Globally responsible travelers are leaving their “footprints” as they venture into new parts of the world. As their eyes open to new cultures, so do their wallets to help fledgling communities improve their economic, academic, or medical conditions. An example of this effort is a small Peruvian village that was recently able to build a new school dormitory and community center thanks to the generosity of Country Walkers and its guests. Country Walkers guests walk to this village, Patacancha, during the Peru tour. During an earlier project in the Peruvian village of Cancha Cancha, Country Walkers matched guest donations to provide a sanitation system for the village. “Through programs such as the Patacancha dormitory and Cancha Cancha system, we open new avenues for sharing the benefits of world travel – in ways that make a difference in the regions we explore,” said Jamen Yeaton-Masi of Country Walkers.
For those who wish to choose their own traveling companions as well as destinations, Country Walkers offers Private Trips tailored to specific interests, with customized dates, walking routes and activities. Typically these private trips are created for family reunions, anniversary celebrations, alumni reunions, and business trips.
