C.P.T.M. is the owner and operator of the passenger-freighter Aranui.  The Aranui has been plying the South Pacific carrying freight to the Marquesas Islands from Tahiti since the 1940s.  In the early 1980s, the first Aranui  was converted to carry about 30 passengers as well as cargos.  Due to its success and popularity, the first Aranui was replaced by a second ship with the same name to carry about 100 passengers in the 1990s.  The current Aranui 3 was built in Romania and went into service in 2003 replacing the second Aranui.  This new Aranui 3 is an upscale, fully air-conditioned state-of the-art passenger-freighter operating out of Tahiti, is still a working freighter that routinely delivers the staples of life to the people in the islands and staffed with descendants of the greatest navigators – the ancient Polynesians who first came to these islands.
