Kenya Guided Walking and Birding Tours.

Ontdek Kenya, the specialized  leader of walking and birding tours in Kenya since 1996, presents alternative and qualitatively superior safaris for the discerning nature travellers, who want to get off the safari bus and have a slowed down holiday combining guided walking/birding with wonderful game viewing away from mass tourism.

Owned and operated by Peter (a native Belgian) and Anne Huysman (a Kenyan), who are  passionate birders and walkers, Ontdek's holidays stand unique in that they are not the package safaris of visiting all the Kenya parks in record time, on hectic rituals of morning and afternoon game drives. Instead we select a few areas and then spend quality time in them looking at the birds, exploring the areas on foot, meeting the local people, enjoying the wildlife with in-depth photo exploration opportunities. The company of our experienced naturalist guide adds extreme value to your tour.

With good references from respected UK & European companies for whom we organize walking/birding vacations for in Kenya, you can book with us knowing that we are experts in what we do. Lonely Planet, the respected travel guide recommends Ontdek.

We conduct our tours in private game sanctuaries and small national parks where there is an abundance of game and nature is at its best. The easily available game like Giraffes, Zebras, Gazelles, Colobus Monkeys and the very interesting bird life are guaranteed interruptions during the walks. Masai Mara, one of the many highlights of our tours, is not just for the game but also for walks outside the game reserve guided by Masai Morans.

Our clients are 40 – 75 yrs come from all over the world and they are active to their ability, inquisitive and want flexible soft adventure with safety. Yes, they want to put their walking boots to use when they come to Africa.  Some book private tours while others join our small groups, which we co-run with our agents, where they are sure to meet like minded travellers. If you love walking we already connect with you , see your profile http://www.ontdekkenya.com/Africa/who-you-are.htm.

Though our walking, birding and game viewing areas seamlessly overlap, we are alive to the fact that the needs for walkers and birders are different. We therefore run our walking and birding tours on separate itineraries and departure dates. However from our own experience and that of a growing number of our clients, Kenya is a perfect place to have a holiday that simultaneously caters for your birding and walking needs and this is best met by our private tailor-made tour.

Comfort is important during a holiday and we only use tourist class lodges and tented camps with en-suite accommodation and high standards of hospitality. In addition we provide full ground support so clients do not have to help with the daily chores of running the tour.  These factors make our tours attractive to the active senior travellers and also to families with children.

We are reluctant to use our price as a marketing pitch, as we would want our clients to travel with us on strong conviction that our way of organising walking /birding tours is what they are looking for. But take advantage of the fact that we are a small company with very good relationships with our partner suppliers and you will see that our tour prices represent true value for your money. There are no hidden prices to be paid for walks and park fees. We invite comparison.

For travel agents seeking an reputable ground operator dealing exclusively with unique walking holidays especially for the + 45yrs, we bring you expertise in Kenya tours. We are flexible to work with and at all times we respect the confidentiality you have with your clients. Kindly visit our website www.ontdekkenya.com for sample itineraries, refs and clients profile. We sincerely look forward to hosting you walking, gameviewing and birding in Kenya.
