ATTA’S “SUMMIT CONNECTIONS” HELPS SUMMIT DELEGATES
FACILITATE PRE-, DURING- & POST-SUMMIT BUSINESS
By Murray Bartholomew, Membership Administrator
For the second year running, the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) has invested in Summit Connections, the online networking schedule planner to promote advance peer-to-peer networking.
“We heard 2006 Summit delegates say they would like to connect with people in advance to be able to move conversations forward at the conference,” said ATTA President Shannon Stowell. “This tool is the answer to this request. We used it last year and this year it has additional features that we anticipate being very valuable for attendees.”
Registered delegates for the 2007 Adventure Travel World Summit will soon receive information on their Summit Connections account to network with others registered to attend this fall’s executive conference in Whistler – October 4-7 (www.adventuretravelworldsummit.com).
Delegates participating in the 2006 Summit used the online community
and business tool as a resource to find and connect with other delegates
before, during and after the Summit. More than 1,500 messages were sent
with Summit Connection’s secure internal messaging system, and well over
half of the 400+ 2006 delegates were active users. Most of last year’s
users reported that Summit Connections proved useful to them when
surveyed.

Summit Connections highlights:
- Pinpoint Map:
Plots delegates as pins on a circular "similarity map". Find delegates
interested in similar issues and business-to-business Summit goals and
objectives in a matter of moments.
- Powerful Search: Narrow by industry
sub-sector, years in industry, business objectives, reason for coming to
the Summit, and MUCH MORE!
- Internal Messenger: Send and receive messages using the built-in messenger, which protects your email address.
How Summit Connections works:
After filling out a little
information about yourself, your organization and business interests,
you are pinpointed on a “similarity map” that positions your profile in
relation to other delegates from across the globe. You may be as
specific as you wish.
Hover your mouse around others surrounding you on the map to locate others who match your business interests, and then by clicking on their pin you may read their profile and see how they fit in the adventure travel community.
Once you’ve located another Summit delegate in the system you want to connect with, send them a message with the built-in messenger. If you have a message during the Summit, you may check your message on a nearby computer for on-site appointment opportunities.
