Sir Walter Scott’s 200 year legacy of his rousing “Lady of the Lake” forms part of our journey. In 1810, Scott’s poem sparked the fire for tourism and exploration in Scotland, Robert Louis Stevenson’s concept of “the journey being the experience” is still valid today, and more recently, John Muir’s legacy to Scotland created our first National Park of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Our journey explores and enjoys landscapes that helped to make us who we are.

Join us on our eclectic journey through times past, present and future. Walk and canoe across the geological Highland boundary fault, walk in the footsteps of Rob Roy, cycle through the future Great Trossachs Forest. History and heritage pervade the area and inspire the local culture. After a day’s activity through stunning autumn colours, we enjoy the atmosphere and sample the talents of local traditional musicians with an informal ceilidh – if you’re a musician come prepared, if not, come ready to take part in an unforgettable journey.
Day 1 – Friday, 1st October: Rendezvous Glasgow 08.00. Travel to the Callander area and head off on our journey, first by bike through the autumnal colours of the Trossachs and then by foot up and over the hills to reach Loch Ard and one of the resting places of Rob Roy. Overnight at a local hotel with some local musicians joining us to round off the evening.
Day 2 – Saturday, 2nd October: We head off by bike and explore the Great Trossachs Forest project down to Inversnaid. Then walk with the NTS head ranger by the slopes of Ben Lomond to Rowardennan. Look out for the sound of the roaring deer in the hills as we walk the shores of the Bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Overnight is spent at the idyllic setting of Rowardennan hostel on the shores of the Loch.
Day 3 – 3rd
