Helen Nodland is a traveler.
In 1990 she founded Nodland Travel Enterprises, a marketing and
education company dedicated to introducing exotic, adventure, active and
eco-friendly travel products into the travel agency and consumer market
areas. Long both an advocate and participant in adventure travel, she
brings her sales and marketing expertise, along with speaking, teaching,
and theatrical skills to the travel marketplace. The stated mission of
Nodland Travel Enterprises is "to be a doorway to extraordinary, life
changing experiences."
Helen's travel industry experience ranges from travel agent, expedition leader, tour director, and sales and marketing director positions. She has worked with the industry's leading travel associations - Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network, NACTA, AAA, ASTA and others - as well as online travel companies and top adventure tour operators. She serves as the Strategic Development Director in North America for the explora, the remote luxury lodges of Chile.
Helen has worked closely with Virtuoso Travel Network, having written and conducted a private certification program for Navigator entitled “21st Century Competencies.” She served on the national committees for the ICTA National Forum and The International Adventure Travel and Outdoor Show. Helen served on the board of directors of The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), and is enthused by the vigor of The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA). She is frequently called upon by media and industry to share her expertise on adventure travel topics and trends. In 1997, Helen was chosen as one of Chicago’s outstanding business women with the “100 Women Making a Difference” award. The recently published Adventure Travel Specialist, published by The Travel Institute in their Lifestyle Specialist series, was authored by Helen.
