John Hogan, Director – Qatar Airways

A seasoned airline and travel industry veteran of 25 years, he first entered the aviation field in 1980 working for Wright Air Lines, a small Cleveland, Ohio commuter where he truly started at the bottom. His career continued by serving domestic and international airlines and major tour operators. Over the years he held key executive positions at US Airways, Emirates, Malaysia Airlines and currently Qatar Airways and was their first Western Hemisphere employee establishing the company legally and commercially in the United States and Canada. His tour operator experience includes Kingdom Vacations, Club Med, GlobeTrek Adventures and a consultant for The Earth is Yours Walking Tours.

His outdoor passion has led him as a member of the Student Conservation Program, Scout and Youth Group Leader and documented global traveler. Some of his circumnavigation stops included Scuba Diving in Borneo, glaciers in Alaska, deserts in the Middle East and hiking in 50 countries and 40 US States where he blogged before there was blogging.

This fall John will be instructing the new Tour Operator Practicum course at the College of DuPage in Illinois which he designed for their Travel and Tourism Program. John and his wife Renee reside in the Greater Chicago area and have four children, Meredith, Sean, Ryan and Patrick.
