Condé Nast Traveler’s September 2005 Issue to Feature 11th Annual Ecotourism Awards
Condé Nast Traveler’s September 2005 issue will feature its 11th annual Ecotoursim Awards.
Since 1994, Traveler editors and a group of industry judges who have a specialized interest and knowledge in ecotourism review tour operators, lodges/resorts and specific destinations for exemplary eco-tourism practices.
Award submissions are judged by core criteria including: preservation of natural surroundings, respectful involvement with the local culture and government, and guest experience, education, and awareness.
For the 2005 awards, the judges include:
- Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts
- Ralph Buckley, Director of the International Center for Ecotourism Research at Griffith University in Australia
- Hector Ceballos-Lascurain, Director General at the Program of International Consultancy on Ecotourism and Special Advisor on Ecotourism to the World Conservation Union
- Mark Conroy, President and CEO of Radisson Seven Seas Cruises
- Karen Ford-Warner, Past Acting Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO)
- Eugenio Yunis, Head of the Sustainable Development of Tourism Department, WTO
- Martha Honey, Executive Director of The International Ecotourism Society
- Sven Linblad, President of Lindblad Expeditions
- Ron Mader, Director of Planeta.com
- Hitesh Mehta, EDSA Ecolodge Architect
- Stanley Selengut, President of Maho Bay Camps (Received the first Condé Nast Traveller Ecotourism Award)
- Shannon Stowell, President of the Adventure Travel Trade Association
