Back to Basics: Creating a Risk Management Plan through Four Critical Steps

For all adventure travel providers, guides, outfitters and venues, it is imperative to consider the big picture of risk management in addition to tending to the details.  In this session, we will review the essential elements in an effort to drive your thinking forward on behalf of your organization in the arena of “risk.”

1. Risk Identification: identify and understand key elements of risk--safety/negligence, property loss, contract or personnel fidelity.
2. Risk Evaluation: exploring the severity and frequency of incidents.
3. Risk Treatment: your willingness to retain the risk? Need to treat it? Avoid it? Reduce it?
4. Implementation: examining and creating policies and procedures, warnings, brochures, training, signage, etc.
