AdventureEDU Sweden 2016

The Swedish ATTA member regions are pleased to announce AdventureEDU, a two-day training and networking event for the adventure travel trade in Sweden November 15 – 16, 2016, as well as a Pre-EDU optional Workshop regarding the National Strategy on Nature Tourism on November 14, 2016. Participants in the event will:

  • Build knowledge and skills in the area of product development with a special focus on sustainability
  • Refine adventure travel marketing strategies and techniques with insights from behavioral economics
  • Establish and strengthen supply chain linkages and cohesion within the local network of suppliers
  • Strengthen their capacity to deliver internationally competitive, high quality adventure experiences
  • Receive an AdventureEDU certificate and badge of completion which can be displayed on websites as a sign of professionalism and competence

AGENDA: November 15 – Day 1 Industry Insights & How Behavioral Economics Can Drive Better Adventure Marketing

The first day of the event opens with an introduction to the global adventure tourism industry – learn about which trends are shaping adventure travel today and in the future, and how they relate to the specific opportunities and challenges in Sweden. This is followed by a short facilitated strategic planning component in which participants come together to share and explore opportunities and challenges for Sweden. A key benefit of this session is that it brings key players in the local industry together to align on priorities and focus for advancing the adventure travel economy. The afternoon offers participants the chance to delve into adventure travel marketing through the lens of behavioral economics. In a lecture session followed by a practical workshop, participants learn about new marketing concepts and have the opportunity to test ideas.

November 16 – Day 2 Product Development, Portfolio Management, Selling to Trade Partners

The second day of the event focuses on product development, product portfolio management and selling to international trade partners. It includes the following sessions:

  • Product Development with an Emphasis on Sustainability for Adventure Tour Operators
  • Product Portfolio Development and Management Workshop
  • Meet the Markets: Selling Successfully to International Trade Partners
  • Capstone Exercise in Adventure Product Creation, Marketing and Selling

Pre-EDU Workshop for the development and communication of Swedish Nature Tourism

November 14 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm A national strategy for Nature Tourism is being developed by the Swedish Eco Tourism Society, in cooperation with Svensk Turism AB and Visita. At the same time, Visit Sweden are working on developing a communications strategy for Swedish Nature Tourism. The event AdventureEDU will gather many of Sweden’s premier natural and cultural tourism businesses, and we would like to take this opportunity to conduct a workshop on the afternoon of November 14 as part of the program. The purpose of the workshop is to enable participants to contribute their experiences and expectations for future operations.


Currently, the application process is closed as the event is full.

We will be accepting applications until October 21 or the event is full. All applicants that applied before September 7 will be notified of their status by September 14. All applicants after September 7, will be notified within 1 week of submission.
