Love and respect for the nature, flora, and fauna of Sweden is ingrained in every Swede from a young age. Part of this is due to the Right of Public Access which is a unique right to roam freely in the countryside , it is taught in school and it is passed down through the generations. This is why Swedes are such a nature-loving bunch; with an inherent respect of nature and the wildlife. Swedes take their nature seriously and they want to share it with the world!
The Pre-Summit Adventures for the Adventure Travel World Summit are the ideal opportunity to experience nature the Swedish way. It is truly a national collaboration between Visit Sweden, The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and many of the country’s Regional Tourism Boards or Agencies.
Here is just some of what you can look forward to.
Swedish Lapland will have you high-fiving when you experience its wilderness. It has a frontier feel, as indigenous culture meets Swedish heritage. With your guide and host you trek the Vindel Mountains and get to learn about traditional medicines and shamanic herbs. If you are lucky you may even see an Arctic Fox.
This is the south-eastern tip of Sweden: rolling, white sandy beaches, nature reserves with unique flora and fauna, megalithic monuments, fishing villages, the famous apple orchards of Kivik and medieval churches and historical sites aplenty. And you get to enjoy the cuisine of the region.
Discover some of the 6,000 islands of the archipelago on this trip and you will be foraging for greens, berries, mushrooms, nuts and roots for later preparation on some of them. Trip includes breakfast, lunch and dinners in the wild, using only local produce and ingredients.
Coastal cycling on Kattegattleden – Sweden’s first national bicycle route
Cycle the 395km of cycle path and minor roads between Helsingborg in the south-west to Gothenburg. You get coastal scenery, you get to meet local artists and craftspeople, sample west coast seafood and savor the cultural and historical sites along the route. Do it under your own power, or on an E-bike.
