AdventureELEVATE gives selected official media delegates the opportunity to discover new destinations, products, and stories through interactive workshops, inspiring plenary discussions, and networking opportunities focused around the evolving trends of the North American adventure travel market, with plenty of time for fresh air and adventure.
In the interest of maintaining a healthy dynamic of diverse business interests in the final event delegation, there are a limited number of official media delegate spots at AdventureELEVATE, both fully-hosted and discounted. Selections will be made from the pool of applications received.
WHO SHOULD APPLY:
The ATTA and our hosts are seeking an approximate total of 30 official media delegates with a primarily North American audience. Only U.S. and Canada-based media should apply. Applications will be considered and reviewed with the destination partner, with the goal to have a variety of qualified media representing the markets listed above who specialize in adventure and sustainable travel stories, including:
Freelance Journalists — with a proven record of placing articles in mainstream lifestyle outlets or vertical outlets focusing on travel, outdoor activity, fitness, culture or environment/sustainability with national and global reach (print or online)
Magazine or Newspaper Staff Writers & Editors — especially from national and regional mainstream lifestyle outlets and/or vertical outlets focusing on travel, outdoor activity, culture or environment/sustainability (print or online editions)
Digital Publication Writers & Editors — especially from mainstream lifestyle outlets and/or vertical outlets focusing on travel, outdoor activity or environment/sustainability with national and global reach
Professional (Career) Bloggers and Digital Influencers — with evidence of regular, current editorial writing related to adventure travel, outdoor activity, culture or environmental/sustainability issues with a large, dedicated and engaged following interested in travel or outdoor related content. (Please note we typically receive the most applications in this category. If applying as partners, please refer to the FAQs.)
Photojournalists / Videographers — editorial in nature who regularly document or film content to accompany published stories related to the adventure travel or outdoor industry
Broadcast Journalists — whose content is broadcast on television, radio, or online and is related to the adventure travel or outdoor industry
Publishers, advertising sales representatives, personal or hobby bloggers, PR agency representatives, marketing agencies/content developers, and film/video producers are not eligible to apply as an official media delegate. Anyone with an interest in the North American adventure travel industry may pay to attend as a regular event delegate.
Do you also sell and lead trips? Buyers (tour operators, travel advisors/agents, wholesalers) are also being considered for hosted opportunities. If you are a qualified media candidate and a qualified buyer, please complete both applications.
Local Media Half-day passes may be available for local television, radio or newspaper representatives to access designated sessions during the event. Contact [email protected].
ROLE & EXPECTATIONS IF YOUR APPLICATION IS SELECTED:
All official media delegates are expected to be “working media” meaning whether a freelance journalist, magazine editor, photojournalist, or professional blogger and influencer, you will be actively looking for ways to cover the destination where the event takes place, the adventure travel industry, and attending delegate’s destinations and products.
In addition, all official media delegates are:
Required to attend relevant traditional media or influencer/blogger specific sessions during the event, designed to network with other delegates in facilitated and unfacilitated formats
Expected to attend the FULL event (all conference days)
HOSTED AND DISCOUNTED/SUBSIDIZED SPOTS:
In the interest of accommodating more official media delegates, there are both fully hosted and discounted/subsidized spots:
HOSTED official media delegates receive: complimentary event registration, accommodations during the event, economy round-trip air, airport transfers, and a multi-day Pre-Adventure tour with a local tour operator. Hosted media are required to participate in an adventure tour, and are expected to publish something about the experience on the adventure and be active on social media using the assigned event hashtags. We will expect resulting publications, and we track all media results from our events.
DISCOUNTED official media delegates receive a subsidized event registration fee of $150 USD*. Costs for accommodation, flights, airport transfers, and a pre-adventure tour** will not be covered. Discounted media are not expected to publish something about the destination. ONLY ATTA ADVENTURE MEDIA MEMBERS in current standing will be eligible for a discounted official media delegate spot, which will be offered to member applicants after the evaluation and selection process and available until sold out. Applicants who were active members at the time of application will be given priority.
All official media delegates can choose a June 10 Day of Adventure tour at no cost.
*Discounted media receive official media delegate designation for the event, meals included on the final event agenda, and a Day of Adventure tour.
ABOUT THE SELECTION PROCESS:
Hosted media selections will be made from the pool of applications received.
All applications will be considered, reviewed, and selected with the destination partner.
After initial evaluation, criteria used in the final hosted curation and selection includes:
Representation from the specific countries listed above (limited per country in the final number of delegates).
A variety of representation in the final group of types of media (editors, freelancers, photojournalists, bloggers, etc.), specialties/topics covered, and outlets.
A mix of individuals new to ATTA events with prior ATTA event media delegates.
Due to the large quantity of applications typically received for a limited number of spots, not all qualified applicants will be selected.
