The main event platform that we’re using is called Hopin (www.hopin.to). You will receive a unique link to create an account on Hopin to register for the event. Hopin is a virtual venue with multiple interactive areas to help you connect and engage. As an attendee, you’ll be able to move in and out of rooms just like an in-person event and enjoy the content and connections throughout. The Hopin platform includes a main stage area, breakout sessions, live video and text based chat functions, a marketplace feature to showcase organizations and opportunities, as well as connection and networking functions.
Hopin is easy to use, and runs straight out of your web browser. While Hopin does work on mobile devices, for the best experience we strongly recommend using your computer.
Upload the latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Hopin works best with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Do not use Internet Explorer or Edge. We also recommend closing all other browser tabs and windows while in the event.

Chat, Polls and People tabs
In all sections of the Hopin platform there are three tabs on your right-hand side. Look for the red dot ( • ) on each respective tab. This indicates new activity within the chat, a new poll, or when you have a new direct message.
Chat Tab
Allows you to send messages visible to all participants of the event. In the sessions and booths you can switch to the chat visible only in the Session or Booth you are participating in. The Chat tab is also where you will see occasional important messages from the organizers and popping up.
Polls Tab
We will be asking you for your feedback during the event using live polls.
People Tab
Lists all participants that have joined the event. You can send a direct message to any participant by clicking on their name.
Chat Information
There are multiple chat channels on the Hopin platform. Each one serves a different purpose.
Event chat — global event chat where all participants can post messages.
Stage/Plenary chat — chat with a Stage-related discussion all attendees have access to.
Session chat — each session in Sessions has dedicated chat rooms. Attendees who are off-camera can chat to interact with people on camera and vice-versa.
Expo Booth chat — like Sessions, each booth has its own chat for group discussions and interaction.
Meeting chat — in Networking, a private 1:1 chat channel is available to the participants.
Direct messages — anyone can send messages to an individual at an event on Hopin via DMs in the People tab. To send a DM, find the person you wish to chat with in the People tab, click their profile photo, and send a direct message to them.
How can I interact with the speakers in the Stage section?
You can always ask a question in the event chat on your right-hand side. The speakers might not have the time to answer all questions so you can always try to catch them off-stage by sending them a direct message. (Tip: filter speakers under the “People” tab on the right side panel)
