The Jablanica mountain ranges lie to the north of Lake Ohrid in the borderland between Albania and Macedonia. Before 1990, the mountain was part of a restricted Yugoslavian-Albanian military zone. Today it is a part of the Balkan Green Belt.
The uppermost karst parts are influenced by the maritime climate. Rich in animal and plant species and known for the medicinal herbs, Jablanica mountain is considered one of the most beautiful areas of Macedonia.
While hiking to summit Crn Kamen peak, we are treated with expansive views over Lake Orhid and the surrounding countryside. It is evident why this region has UNSECO World Heritage status.
