Jorge Moller started with ecotourism in1985 in the South of Chile. He founded “Eco Travel” in the Lake District of Puerto Varas in 1990, and has been dedicated to nature and cultural tourism. A pioneer in the area of Specialist Interest tourism, Moller was a founding member of Chile’s adventure travel regulatory organization (C.A.T.A.) and the Tourism Corporation of Puerto Varas. Keenly aware of bringing an environmental education perspective into the tourism experience, Moller owned Darwin’s Trails Chile for the next 20 years, a joint English-Chilean inbound tour operator providing authentic local experiences for clients visiting Chile and Patagonia. Moller now works as a consultant with indigenous communities such as the Mapuches, Likan Antai, Yagan and Rapa-Nui to provide tools for sustainable tourism development. As an active member of the Board of the Chilean Tourism Bureau, Moller promotes the destination of Chile with sustainability and inclusivity in the forefront. Director of the Destination Sustainable Working Group at the GSTC, he was also the key local organizer the 2015 Adventure Travel World Summit in Puerto Varas. As a consultant, he is working with different Latin-American destinations like Robinson Crusoe Island, Cape Horn, and along the Qhapac Ñan, helping to demonstrate their value and shine light on them for national and international markets.

With multiple quality and safety awards and the first to integrate the pet-friendly concept into her tours, Huaxteca recently managed to unite the areas of nature conservation and tourism, creating the first tourist project in the region that combines elements of sustainability and environmental education called Selne Teenek, where the focus is on the conservation of the 6 big cats that inhabit in the Huasteca Potosina.
