There are a limited amount of media spaces at our events and applications are considered and reviewed according to different criteria for each event, but always with the goal to have a variety of media representatives in attendance. For the Adventure Travel World Summit 2017, we are also seeking to have a wide global media representation.
Applications will be reviewed in December 2016 with final approvals completed by February 2017.
Who should apply:
The ATTA is interested in a variety of media who specialize in adventure and sustainable travel stories, including:
Magazine or Newspaper Staff Writers & Editors — especially from national and regional mainstream lifestyle outlets and/or vertical outlets focusing on travel, outdoor activity, culture or environment/sustainability (print or online editions)
Digital Publication Writers & Editors — especially from mainstream lifestyle outlets and/or vertical outlets focusing on travel, outdoor activity or environment/sustainability with national and global reach
Freelance Journalists — with a proven record of placing articles in mainstream lifestyle outlets or vertical outlets focusing on travel, outdoor activity, fitness, culture or environment/sustainability with national and global reach (print or online)
Professional (Career) Bloggers — with evidence of regular, current editorial writing related to adventure travel, outdoor activity, culture or environmental/sustainability issues with a large, dedicated and engaged following interested in travel or outdoor related content.
Photographers / Videographers — editorial in nature who regularly document or film content to accompany published stories related to the adventure travel or outdoor industry
Broadcast Journalists — whose content is broadcast on TV, radio or online and is related to the adventure travel or outdoor industry

If your application is accepted:
All media badge holders (media delegates) to ATTA events are expected to be “working media,” meaning whether you are a blogger, broadcaster, photographer, freelance journalist or magazine editor you should be actively looking for ways to cover the adventure travel industry, ATTA members’ destinations and products, and the destination where the event takes place. We do not always require commission or assignments in order for your application to be accepted (this requirement can vary from event to event), but we will expect resulting publications. We track all media results from our events.
All media delegates are required to attend media-specific sessions during the event (ie. MediaConnect, etc.) designed to give you more story ideas by interacting with other delegates in facilitated and non-facilitated formats.
If you are hosted on a pre- or post-event adventure (FAM), you will be expected to publish something about your experience
Hosted Media Delegates
For each event the ATTA, together with the destination host, invites a limited number of media delegates to be fully hosted (registration fee as well as airfare and accommodation will be paid for by the ATTA and the destination host). The number of hosted delegates as well as the mix of home countries and types and titles of outlets changes for each event.
In addition to the expectations for all media delegates outlined above, hosted media delegates will be expected to be active on social media during the event and any related FAM trips, using their influence to spread the word about the ATTA and its members, the adventure travel industry and the host destination. Event hashtags will be sent ahead of the event and you are expected to use the proper tags to make event publicity tracking possible.
