[The ATWS 2018 official media application closes February 28, 2018. Final selections will be made by the end of March 2018.]
Thank you for your interest in applying to attend the Adventure Travel World Summit 2018 as an official media delegate.
The Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) is the preeminent opportunity for adventure travel professionals to gather for networking, education and inspiration.
Selected official media delegates will learn about new companies and trends in the adventure tourism space, discover stories from operators and destinations, and form new lasting relationships while experiencing Tuscany in a fresh new way. Immersive adventure opportunities on Pre-Summit Adventures and the Day of Adventure will give travel media the chance to discover new stories by diving into an authentic culture and experiencing activities like rafting, climbing, diving, hiking, sailing, canyoning, and many more.
Applications will be reviewed in January and February 2018 with final selections by March 2018.
If accepted, the entire trip length will vary in duration up to six days prior to the event depending on the final selection of Pre-Summit Adventure tour options (usually 3-5 days in length) plus the travel time from your origin city. Tour options will be made available after applications are selected. The event itself is October 15-18, with return departures on October 19, 2018.

Who is not eligible for an official media delegate spot:
Role and expectations at the Summit if your application is selected:
Official media delegates are expected to be “working media,” meaning whether a freelance journalist, magazine editor, broadcaster, photojournalist, or professional blogger and influencer, you will be actively looking for ways to cover the the destination where the event takes place, the adventure travel industry, and ATTA members’ destinations and products. If accepted to attend, we will expect resulting publications, and we track all media results from our events.
In addition, all official media delegates are:
Required to attend media-specific sessions during the event, designed to give you more story ideas and connections through interactions with other delegates in facilitated and unfacilitated formats.
Expected to attend the FULL event (all conference days).
Expected to publish something about your experience on adventures (Day of Adventure and/or a Pre-Summit Adventure)
Expected to be active on social media during the event and any related FAM trips, using your influence to spread the word about the ATTA and its members, the adventure travel industry, and the host destination. Event hashtags will be sent ahead of the event and you are expected to use the proper tags to make event publicity tracking possible.
Hosted and Discounted Spots:
Within the limited amount of official media delegate spots for ATWS 2018, there are both fully hosted and discounted spots.
Fully hosted official media delegates receive: complimentary event registration, accommodations during the event, economy round-trip air, airport transfers, and a Pre-Summit Adventure (PSA) at no cost (though some additional incidental costs may be required per the specific itinerary). Hosted media delegates are required to participate in a Pre-Summit Adventure.
Discounted official media delegates receive a subsidized event registration fee of $600 USD and the opportunity to register for a Pre-Summit Adventure at the same discounted cost available to all registered event delegates. Accommodation, flight costs, and airport transfers will not be covered. Participation in a Pre-Summit Adventure is optional for discounted media delegates. If selected, active ATTA Adventure Media Members* are eligible for a further discounted registration fee of $350 USD.
All official media delegates can choose an October 15 Day of Adventure at no cost and receive meals already included at the event.
There are a limited number of both fully hosted and discounted official media delegate spaces at this event, and one application serves for both. In other words, your application will be considered for both a fully hosted spot and/or a discounted spot.
Final selections will be made from the pool of applications received.
Applications will be considered and reviewed with the destination partner.
A cross-set of criteria is used in the application process to create the proper ratio of final media delegates representing the specific countries listed above, plus a mix of outlets, topics, traditional media, influencers, ATWS veterans, and first-time ATWS media.
Due to the limited number of official media delegate spots (fully hosted and discounted) and the ratios utilized to result in a variety of final media delegates using the cross-set of criteria above, not all applications will be accepted.
