Ken Shapiro

Editor-in-Chief, TravelAge West

Ken Shapiro was born and raised in Los Angeles. He got his BA from UCLA and a graduate degree from Columbia University. For over 10 years, he worked for consumer magazines and book publishers in New York City. After moving back to Los Angeles, he became Destinations Editor at TravelAge West and eventually Editor-in-Chief. Under his guidance, TravelAge West has received numerous national and international editorial and design awards. Shapiro is also the Editor-in-Chief of Explorer, a quarterly publication dedicated to adventure and experiential travel, and Family Getaways, which covers family and multigenerational travel. Shapiro is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) and has won writing awards from numerous organizations, including SATW and the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA). He lives with his wife and their two children in Hollywood.
