Mona McPhee is the owner of McPhee Law Office based in Seattle. Mona acts as general counsel to companies with a focus on business planning and risk management. She works with many clients in the adventure travel industry as a partner in their business success helping these companies to achieve their mission. Mona loves supporting these clients in a manner that allows them to invest energy and resources in taking the company to the next level by handling employment issues, regulatory applications and compliance for travel to countries that are more difficult to get to, writing contracts with domestic and foreign partners, and more. Mona is available to handle legal needs from start-up to sale. As a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association, she provides a valuable legal resource to its members and others in the industry.
Mona’s legal career is focused on people and how the law affects their lives. Mona’s 13 years of practice have given her experience ranging from working in the courts to keep children safe in the foster care system, to obtaining asylum for vulnerable immigrants, to obtaining a multi-million dollar jury verdict for an employee who was the victim of race discrimination, to supporting small business owners who dream big. Mona was also senior law clerk to Chief Justice Gerry L. Alexander of the Washington Supreme Court.
Mona was bitten by the travel bug at an early age when she had several opportunities to travel and study in Europe. She views travel as the path that leads to meaningful connections with other people and the world we inhabit. Mona received her undergraduate degree in French and Political Science from Byrn Mawr College in Philadelphia. She returned to her native Pacific Northwest where she earned a law degree from the University of Oregon in 2000. Mona shares her life with her husband, son, and Scottish terrier by enjoying adventures in Seattle whenever time and weather permit.
